When it comes to keeping your course green and pristine year-round, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better combination than Foliar-Pak Amperage and Foundation Forty. Here’s what you can expect from each product.
With Amperage, A Better Color Response
Amperage is a 10-0-0 liquid fertilizer that contains a targeted blend of water-soluble iron, zinc, and manganese. All of these nutrients support photosynthesis and work together to deliver a fast and long-lasting color response, even in nutrient-deficient soils. Molasses is the other key component of Amperage, delivering carbohydrates to the plant, increasing its energy reserves.
Amperage shines in the spring and fall shoulder seasons, when more energy is needed to deliver a color response. This is because the nutrients in Amperage aid photosynthesis and chloroplast production, especially during cool, low-light conditions—common during those seasons. In short, Amperage encourages turf to become green earlier and stay green longer, helping you keep your course beautiful for the whole playing season.
While the standard rate is 1.5 to three fluid ounces per thousand square feet (in a minimum of 0.5 gallons of spray solution), you can up it to a maximum of six fluid ounces when treating poor-quality, nutrient-deficient, and/or stressed turf.
With Foundation Forty, Year-Round Stress Tolerance
Foundation Forty 4-0-8 is a concentrated blend of immediately available L-amino acids. These amino acids increase nitrogen fixation and the production of chlorophyll and carbohydrates to deliver a more vibrant appearance and better stress tolerance.
The amino acids in Foundation Forty play an especially critical role in chlorophyll synthesis, giving the turf a deeper, greener color. They also assist with carbohydrate production and storage, so the plant has the energy reserves it needs to survive periods of stress. Foundation Forty also improves nutrient uptake ability by increasing the amount of metabolites in the plant’s stomatal guard cells. That increase helps open the pores, allowing for better uptake of inputs, and will also enhance the efficacy of many tank-mix chemical combinations.
Foundation Forty is typically applied at rates of 0.5 to 1.5 fluid ounces per thousand square feet, but can be used at higher rates (1.5 to three fluid ounces per thousand square feet) to alleviate intense stress and promote recovery.
Why They Work Great Together
I have a lot of customers who use Foundation Forty all year long to achieve a stunning color and greatly improve stress tolerance. If they want a better color response during the shoulder seasons, they’ll also use Amperage to bypass the issues posed by having less sunlight and experiencing lower temperatures. All superintendents strive to have a course that’s green and healthy for the entire playing season, and Foundation Forty and Amperage can help you reach that goal.
