Velocity PM Poa Management Herbicide, by Nufarm, provides selective post-emergent control over annual bluegrass (Poa annua), roughstalk bluegrass (Poa trivialis), and broadleaf weeds on cool-season and warm-season turfgrass. For superintendents looking to transition their course to a more uniform, weed-free stand, Velocity PM provides an easy-to-use option.

Velocity PM is an effective, safe tool for getting poa out of creeping bentgrass, ryegrass, tall fescue, fine fescue, and dormant bermudagrass. In addition to post-emergent poa control, it can also suppress Poa annua seedheads and stunt the development and severity of dollar spot. Its versatility also enables it to be tank-mixed with fertilizers, fungicides, and PGRs.

What Velocity Controls

Velocity PM controls 15 weeds in total, including tough-to-manage ones like dandelion, and yellow nutsedge, in addition to Poa annua and Poa trivialis, as previously mentioned. See the label for a full list of controlled weeds.

Velocity PM reduces the presence of poa safely and effectively, and it provides the flexibility of either gradual or aggressive reduction of poa, depending on the program of choice.

Gradual Poa Reduction with Velocity PM

For superintendents who are not in a hurry to transition their stand, the gradual program involves five applications at 0.75 ounces per acre every 14 days.

Aggressive Poa Reduction with Velocity PM

For superintendents seeking a quicker approach, Velocity should be applied twice at 2.25 ounces per acre, with the applications 14 days apart.

Application Timing

Regardless of program, applications should be made when average air temperatures are between 70-90°F and turf is actively growing. Nufarm recommends applications take place between May 15 and October 15 in northern states. In southern temperate states, applications should be made between April 1 and June 1 and/or September 1 through November 1.
