As we enter the middle of the season, you’re likely transitioning from blanket spray rounds to a spot control approach for weeds.
Summer annual broadleaf weeds like spurge are arriving, and staying ahead of them keeps callbacks to a minimum. Sedges tend to become more problematic starting in July, especially if they were missed in June. Then, of course, crabgrass is the bear that everybody hates to see. These pesky weeds often require tougher controls than you may typically have used in earlier rounds. Now is the time to either catch up or stay ahead of the competition.
Allstar

4-Runner with Q-Ball and Microyl
ArmorTech’s 4-Runner is another excellent option for spot treating pesky summer weeds. Used as a standalone, 4-Runner handles most broadleaf weeds and adds sedge control in the summer months. This formulation is non-2,4-D and doesn’t interfere with 2,4-D maximum applications on other labels. 4-Runner can be a lifesaver on lawns that may have experienced poor broadleaf control results in spring.
To build the most effective tank mix, I recommend combining Nufarm’s Q-Ball with 4-Runner, and following the Q-Ball label by adding Microyl MSO to the mix. The result is a non-2,4-D, 5-way herbicide mix that offers very similar results to Allstar, at a cost position that is more advantageous than Allstar.
For those with seasoned mixing skills, 4-Runner, QBall, and MSO may be an avenue to look into. For those who prefer an easier-to-mix solution, choose Allstar and enjoy the benefits of their summer rebate program.
