“Early order” is a dreaded phrase for most after a long season. There are so many other things to get done in the fall, like leaf cleanup, aeration, herbicide and fungicide sprays, winterization planning… The list goes on. Plus, staffing levels at this time of year are typically light, which makes getting things done more challenging.
On top of that, it’s been a hard season for many. We had extreme heat, excessive rainfall in some areas, and no rainfall in others. Many of my customers are worn out and are low on product since they had to use more than they’d typically go through. Programs were pushed to the limit.
Looking Back
Early order gives us an opportunity to do an agronomic review of what you did during the year, while it’s fresh on your mind. It’s not the easiest thing to do, thinking about and planning for the next season, especially when everyone is looking forward to some downtime.
What products didn’t work as well as you’d hoped? Any disease and weed breakthroughs? Any nutrient deficiencies or water management issues? Early order season gives us a chance to evaluate the products you currently use, see where you may be able to save some dollars, take advantage of some other products, and learn about new products. In addition to the savings, we can readjust things to make sure you’re ready for what 2026 may throw your way.
There are many brands offering next-season payment terms, discounts for paying early, and it all adds up. You can spend less and get more for your money with early order.
