Dont Forget To Water Your Dirt

In most areas, spring baseball is winding down.  That can only mean on thing; summer and fall baseball will be starting up soon.  When preparing those fields during these summer months, water will be your number one tool.

If the infield is not watered properly it can become very hard and dusty.  No one likes playing on a dusty parking lot.  To achieve the perfect moisture level in an infield, try to water your infield a couple times during the day.  Start at least 8 hours before game time.  Water slowly and heavily to let the water migrate down through the soil.  This will leave you with a firm footing, dust free infield.

Incorporating soil conditioners into your infield will also help you maintain a good moisture level in your infield.  Soil conditioners absorb water and release it over time.  Adding as little as two tons of soil conditioner will help you regulate the surface moisture, which will eliminate those dust delays during your next game.
