Finding a pre-emergent product isn’t difficult, but finding one that works well in warning track areas, on infield soil, and in landscape beds around the field may present a challenge.

Corteva’s Crew herbicide can be used in all of those settings. Crew is a granular pre-emergent that combines the power of Dimension 2EW (dithiopyr) and Gallery SC (isoxaben) to control over 120 broadleaf and grassy weeds on cool- and warm-season grasses. Both of these products have high tolerance, a large application window, and are safe for use on most types of turf and 400+ ornamental species. Its wide label can help sports turf managers establish weed control across their field and landscape areas.

More About Crew

Crew is low odor, nonstaining, and dust-free, making it very user-friendly for high-traffic areas, especially on areas of play like skins—no PPE required.

A unique aspect of Crew is that it can be spread on warning tracks, infield soil, baselines, and anywhere it bleeds into the grass. Keeping turfgrass safe and beautiful is important, and there’s very little risk if Crew ends up in the grass or drifts. Crew can also be used on landscape beds around the field, making it a great option for both types of areas.

How to Use Crew

For the best results, put Crew down before weed seeds germinate in the early spring or fall when the area being treated is free of weeds and any debris.

Apply Crew at a rate of one bag per 15,000 square feet on skin and grass playing surfaces. For landscape beds, apply at a rate of 3.44 pounds per thousand square feet. Ensure that treated areas are irrigated within three weeks of applying if no rainfall occurs within that timespan. For control throughout the season, a second application can be made five to ten weeks after the first. Crew also provides post-emergent control of crabgrass.
