As things slow outside, here are several things to keep busy this winter:

Make a Plan

Creating a sound agronomic program for next season is one of the most important things to accomplish. Look back at 2019 and take into account what things were successful and what needs to be improved. Ask yourself how many events you’re hosting? Does your aerification and seeding program support the amount of traffic each field takes? Are you looking at soil tests to write an educated program? It is important to remember we strive to bring new and innovative products to our customers. No matter your results from last season, don’t be afraid to try something new for a prosperous 2020!

Perform Equipment Maintenance

It is a great opportunity to make sure all equipment is cleaned, and complete all annual maintenance. Take the time to deep clean shops and reorganize for next season. Evaluate all your accessories that you use throughout the season: nets, windscreens, bases, base anchors and plugs, tarps, fence caps, home plates, pitching rubbers, wall pads, goal posts and nets, corner flags, etc.

Get Caught Up

When weather allows, finish tasks that were missed in the late fall. Also, hit the attention to detail items that need to be completed on a routine basis. Things such as edging sidewalks and fields, cleaning up landscape beds, parking lots, and fence lines get you ahead come spring and keep facilities looking sharp. Most venues are on display 365 days a year, so the extra detail work makes properties look sharp year round.

Learn Something New

Take the opportunity to seek educational/networking opportunities at local and national conferences. These are great opportunities to learn the newest information from extension specialists and our peers. It is also great for networking with others in the industry.

Relax

Most importantly take time to enjoy the company of family and friends during the holiday season. There is plenty of work to be done, and spring is right around the corner!
