For turf managers, quality turf requires timely product applications. The cost of an application can range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars per acre. With that thought, it is prudent to select the proper spray nozzle and to calibrate your sprayer each spring.

All nozzles are not equal, and this is particularly true for turf products. For most turf applications the preferred nozzle should offer a ‘flat fan’ spray pattern with a medium to coarse spray droplet. There are four TeeJet nozzles to consider when making your selection. TurboTeeJet, TurboTwin Jet, XR (Extended Range) TeeJet and AI (Air Induction) nozzles offer the best performance for fine turf applications. When selecting nozzles, consider the product to be applied and drift control needs.

Sprayer calibration is an important but often overlooked practice. Each spring, it is prudent to spend time calibrating your sprayer and checking nozzles for performance and accuracy. Please take note of SpotOn sprayer tools, recently added into our product offering. Digital calibration cups, pressure testers and nozzle cleaning tools are available in this product line.

On a final thought, most turf applications require 1-2 gal per 1000 sq ft of spray volume. Since TeeJet offers nozzles with a variety of spray volumes, selecting the appropriate nozzles based on application pressure is critical. Your Advanced Turf sales representative will be happy to help answer any questions you might have.
