scary turf stories with mike werth

The symptoms first appeared as light green (etiolation like) patches on a few of my customers’ bentgrass greens. Then, within a few days, the bentgrass declined and quickly. We immediately took samples to the WTA Diagnostic Turf Lab, and our concerns were verified. It was Pythium Root Rot.

We immediately sprayed PBI-Gordon‘s Segway and then Bayer’s Banol a week later. Turf recovery wasn’t immediate, but it eventually recovered with a little Foliar-Pak Grow-In and seed. They are now on a preventative program in the spring, with three applications of Bayer’s Banol/Signature, FMC’s Fame SC and PBI- Gordon‘s Segway 3 weeks apart.
