3 Biggest Myths About Ice Melt

1. It directly damages concrete

Incorrect: Actual chemical damage to concrete is usually not a problem. The real damage to concrete comes from water seeping into it and then refreezing. (find more information in the answer below).

2. Stated ingredients on the bag guarantee performance

Incorrect: They do not have to state % content.

3. More is better.

Incorrect: Use ice melt as directed, and do not over-apply it. Applying too much ice melt can harm vegetation, among other things. In fact, keeping ice melt out of planted areas in general and not pushing snow and leftover product into planted beds or turf will ensure vegetation is unharmed.
