Don’t Forget To Treat For Snow Mold This Fall

It does not seem possible, however, we are almost at the time of year for preventative snow mold applications. With the weather we had last year, this will be more important than ever this winter.

This photo was taken earlier this spring of an untreated fairway. This Northern Indiana golf course had no prior history of snow mold. Needless to say, they will be preventatively treating their fairways for snow mold this fall.

In Northern Indiana, we have already had one case of pink snow mold. This is not unusual with the cool, wet, low-level light conditions that we have experienced this fall.

In the past several years, there have been great improvements in both sprayable and granular products for preventing snow mold. Work with your Advanced Turf representative to create a strategy that works best for your fine turf areas. These programs can vary greatly from North to South and the type of turf you are treating. Getting your treatment program started early this fall will be your key to success with these applications.
